While chamber music is somewhat less popular than symphonies and orchestral works, Sibelius—who originally aspired to be a violinist—endows his compositions with a unique charm, evident in his effective compositional style and the eloquence with which he conveys his ideas. It’s also a joy to discover melodies of astonishing beauty. The inclusion of rare brass works is also most welcome.
