Masaaki Suzuki released the first volume of *The Well-Tempered Clavier* in 1996 to rave reviews, but he was slow to tackle the second volume, leaving his fans on tenterhooks. However, after more than a decade, he has finally realized this recording. Reflecting his experience performing and recording Bach’s complete cantatas, as well as most of his major works, this recording showcases a depth of understanding and a maturity that are second to none.
