We are re-releasing the orchestral versions of Beethoven’s late string quartets, originally released on the ALTARA label, as a remastered edition on the BIS label. This acclaimed performance, featuring orchestral arrangements by Terje Tønnesen, gains even greater intensity and depth, revealing new layers of charm. Tønnesen studied under Max Rostal and has served as concertmaster of the Oslo Philharmonic and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. This recording features the Camerata Nordica, which he leads. Although the ensemble traditionally performs without a conductor, the new concerto grosso-style arrangement creates the effect of the string quartet simply expanding in size. King International
