Description:

Bruckner: (scheduled to be recorded) Contents] (Scheduled to be recorded) Symphony No. 7 in E major, WAB 107 I. Allegro moderato 23:37 Sehr feierlich und sehr langsam 26:37 Etwas langsamer 10:31 Bewegt, doch nicht schnell + applause 13:19 Performer. Serge Celibidacke (conductor) Munich Philharmonic Orchestra [Recorded live at Herkulessaal, Munich, January 31, 1984 (analog recording) [Remastered by Johannes Müller [Mastered by Christoph Stickel Anton Bruckner was undoubtedly Serge Celibidacke's favorite composer, and together with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, this great maestro created a perfect music worthy of Bruckner's musical vision. The 1984 recording of Symphony No. 7 was made at the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residenz and is a very rare, historic, and previously unreleased authentic recording. The master tapes were missing, but have recently been unearthed from the orchestra's vast archives. The CD release of the CD was not available in time for Bruckner's bicentennial in 2024 (September 4), so it was made available exclusively on Apple Music in time for his birthday. The performance is conducted at a weighty tempo throughout all the movements, but it is not overly heavy, and the brass instruments have a mellow, gentle tone. The slow tempo does not cause the performance to stagnate, and the fine changes in dynamics skillfully express the depth of tone and resonance. The recording is in very good condition, with a wide range of intensity, and the remastering emphasizes the sense of scale and highlights the depth and richness of the music, reproducing the superbly sculpted music of Celibidacke's later years. Remastered by Johannes Muller and mastered by Christoph Stickel. *The domestic SACD hybrid disc (scheduled for release on January 29, 2025) will be further mastered by Kosei Fujita for SACD with DSD mastering, and mastered so that the effect can be seen on CD as well.
