CovenJapan, who released their debut album at the end of 2023, have now released their highly anticipated second album—following in the footsteps of their debut—on the prestigious NoRemorseRecords label, after completing two European tours that included appearances at Greece’s UpTheHammersFestival and Sweden’s Muskelrock! This October, they will once again embark on a European tour featuring this new album, including a stop at RisingFest in France. Their unique brand of traditional heavy metal—featuring catchy, melodic twin lead guitars, captivating riffs, and memorable melodies, fused with ancient Japanese and English lyrics—explodes once again on this new release. Furthermore, their evolution has become even more grandiose and addictive, ensuring it will satisfy not only fans from their previous album but also a wider audience of traditional heavy metal enthusiasts. While the band teamed up with Enforcer’s Olof Wikstrand for mixing and mastering on their previous album, this time they took charge of the self-mixing, paying meticulous attention to every detail. For mastering, they enlisted Arthur Rizk—who is not only a guitarist for their labelmates Eternal Champion and Sumerlands but has also made a remarkable name for himself as a producer for acts such as King Diamond and Kreator, resulting in a superb production that maintains a solid traditional sound while offering even greater depth and breadth. Furthermore, this album features guest vocals from fellow NWOTHM artists: Tomas “Witchfinder” Ericson of Sweden’s Helvetets Port (Track 2) and Niels Bang of France’s Animalize (Track 6), each bringing their own unique style to create a fantastic synergy. Following in the footsteps of the previous release, this is once again a re-import from Greece, and both the CD and LP come with a sleeve that embodies the band’s and the label owner’s fervent passion and dedication to metal.
