Ashley Solomon's solo album featuring 9 rare historical flutes! Ashley Solomon is one of England's leading flute and recorder virtuosos, serving as Chair and Head of Historical Performance and Professor of Recorder at the Royal College of Music (RCM). He is also a founding member of the Florilegium, one of the UK's leading ancient music ensembles, whose early members included Rachel Podger, and has been active internationally as director and flutist since 2001.Ashley Solomon, whose last solo recording (CCS 40617) of Telemann's unaccompanied Fantasias on rare instruments from the Royal Collection Trust and the Royal Academy of Music, has made a splash, now returns with a recording of amateur flutist and historical flute collector From Peter Spohr's private collection of over 600 flutes, Ashley Solomon will record the sounds of nine rare historical flutes, including the Chattillion (late 17th century), one of the oldest surviving French flutes.
