This series features performances by members of the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of the Netherlands, which has previously released acclaimed recordings by Jorgen van Lienen, Emily Baynon, Jasper de Waal, Gustavo Núñez, and others. The fifth installment features Musica Reale, a chamber ensemble composed of members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra! François Devienne, a flutist and composer active in 18th-century France, left behind numerous works for wind instruments; this recording features two flute quartets and two bassoon quartets. Dovienne’s Flute Quartet, Op. 66-3, was also performed during the orchestra’s concert tour in Japan in April 2015. This performance offers a chance to fully appreciate the beautiful tones and brilliant ensemble playing of Musica Reale, which includes Japanese musicians such as Junko Naito and Saeko Oguma.
