Florilegium with Gillian Keith A Collection of Handel’s Arias and Trio Sonatas! Florilegium, one of Britain’s leading early music ensembles, was founded in 1991 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2016. Known for its high artistic quality—and for having Rachel Poggi as one of its founding members—the ensemble features Bojan Čičić, a student of Poggi’s who also serves as first violinist for Bojan Čičić—a former student of Poggi’s and a member of her ensemble “Brecon Baroque”—serves as first violin. The ensemble is composed of master players of period instruments, including Japanese gambist Reiko Ichise, who is active in various early music scenes across the UK, and director and flutist Ashley Solomon. Florilegium, which has earned high praise for its collaborations with top-tier singers such as Emma Kirkby, Johannette Sommer, and Erin Mannahan Thomas, is now teaming up with Gillian Keith, the brilliant lyric soprano from Canada. This Handel album features a masterful blend of nine German arias (HWV 202–210) sung by Keith and Trio Sonatas performed with stylish finesse by Florilegium. Tokyo M Plus
