The quartet offers high-quality performances of interesting music written for simple orchestration by a composer who covered a wide range of styles from sonority to post-romantic, folk music to religious music, and from atonal to tonal music. The string quartets are all unique: the percussion ensemble-like No. 1, the intense cluster of No. 2, and the third, which is scorching in its rich song.
