Description:
A collaboration between the Grammy Award-winning New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and Cyril Emme, a French singer described by the Wall Street Journal as "one of the most promising jazz singers of his generation"! The theme is the musical ties and history between France and New Orleans! The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO), led by Artistic Director Adonis Rose, was formed in 2002. The album "Petite Fleur" is about the musical ties and history between France and New Orleans, and features French singer Cyril Emmet, described by the Wall Street Journal as "one of the most promising jazz singers of his generation". Nine of the ten songs on the album are standards associated with French and New Orleans musicians, and one is an original composition by Cyril Emme. Adonis Rose was born into a musical family in New Orleans on January 11, 1975. Influenced by his father and grandfather, he began playing drums at the age of 3. As a teenager, he fell in love with the music of the Marsalis Brothers, also from New Orleans, and received a presidential scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2002, Rose became the founding drummer of the non-profit New Orleans Jazz Orchestra ("NOJO"), which has headlined at major performing arts venues and clubs across the U.S. and is the first ticketed jazz concert series in New Orleans history. The NOJO has headlined at major performing arts venues and clubs across the United States and produced the first ticketed jazz concert series in New Orleans history. His album "Book One," released on World Village (Harmonia Mundi), won a 2010 Grammy Award for "Best Large Jazz Ensemble. The follow-up album, "Dee Dee's Feather's," was released in 2015 and featured Grammy and Tony Award-winning vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, dredging up buzz. The previous album, "Songs," released in 2019, was a musical legend in New Orleans, tribute to Allen Toussaint, and represented a generous love for New Orleans.
