Malombo, a traditional music that is still a major influence on the South African jazz scene in 2023! The Malombo Jazz Makers, who took the malombo drums and developed them into their own unique jazz style, are pleased to announce the straight reissue of their extremely rare 3rd album from 1969! The album features Julian Bahula, a master of marombo drums who was instrumental in spreading the band's international recognition; Abbey Sindhi, a flutist with an emo spirit; and Lucky Rancoux, one of the greatest African guitarists of his generation, as well as of his time in South Africa. The Malombo Jazz Makers, led by Lucky Rancoux. The Marombo Jazz Makers, led by Lucky Rancourt, are a group of African jazz guitarists of the same generation, who, despite their simple soundscape, present overwhelming originality with their solid technique and the atmosphere created by the acoustics of the time. Cindy's soprano saxophone, heard on "Sefuralong" and "Gae Mamelodi," adds to the euphoria and ecstasy of the hypnotic groove.It is not flashy enough to immediately catch your attention, but as you listen to the serene, hypnotic rhythms, plucked guitars, and flute interjections, you will find yourself swept up in the swirling groove, unable to get out, and shaking your body.
