Description:
Edvard Friflate Brain (1924-1976) was born in Kristiansand, Norway. He studied composition with Bjarne Brølstad and conducting with Odd Grüner-Hegge at the Norwegian National Academy of Music. He worked as a composer and conductor. He is considered a genuine melodist, and his best known works are "Towards the Open Sea" and the opera "Anne Pederstedtel", both of which leave a strong impression with their generous melodies. The album "SSENS Trio" with Edvard Frifflett's children, Ditje Marie and Hans Christian, and pianist Ole Christian Hogenrud, features Beethoven's string trio (LWC 1343) and chamber music including Brain's vocal works. The album will feature chamber works by Blaine, including his vocal works. The album includes two chamber works for clarinet, violin, viola, and cello: "The Delightful Musicians" and "Divertimento". Four Songs" on poems by Olav Aukrust. Twilight Songs" and "A Single Tear," composed on poems by Einar Sjölösen and Trygve Björkheim, respectively. Three solo piano works. Hans Christian Brain has performed with the Oslo Philharmonic, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Oslo Sinfonietta, Chicada, and the Danish Esbjerg Ensemble. His recordings of Brahms' clarinet chamber music album (Simax) and other recordings have received critical acclaim. Tokyo M-Plus
