Kasten Brusta studied classical guitar at the Conservatory of Music and acquired his compositional skills through private instruction. His compositions range from choral works to orchestral, chamber ensemble, and instrumental works, as well as electroacoustic and visual art works for television and theater. Three concertos by Bluestar. Ylg, for piccolo, two flutes, and orchestra, was commissioned by Norwegian Radio Orchestra's co-principal flutist Anne-Karine Haughe, with support from the Norwegian Arts Council, to Blusta. The piece takes its name from "Ylg," one of the rivers that flow into Hvergermil, the spring at the base of the world tree Yggdrasil, as described in Norse mythology and in the "Old Edda." The music combines the explosive, rhythmic movement of energetics with a mysterious, meditative atmosphere. The "Concerto for Timpani and Orchestra" takes its name from the Old Norse word "hof," which means "possibility, discretion, or temple." The magnificent sound of the five timpani placed in front of the orchestra evokes a scene of an "old temple. It was commissioned by Rune Halvorsen, principal timpani player of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, with support from the Norwegian Arts Council. The Eye of Horus, "Udjat."Commissioned by euphonium player Gail Davidsen, who teaches at the University and College of Music in Tromsø, northern Norway, and the Tromsø Symphony Orchestra with support from the Composers' Fund. The work aims to expand the musical universe by applying electronics and pursuing the sound of the euphonium instrument and new performance techniques. Tokyo M-Plus
