Harpreet Bansal was born in Oslo to Indian parents who taught him the traditional Indian music of raga from his father at the age of two, and he went on to study classical music and traditional North Indian music at the Norwegian National College of Music. He is currently working in the field of music once pioneered by the Beatles in collaboration with Ravi Shankar. Parvat (Mountain), named after the Sanskrit word for "mountain," was composed as music for violin, harmonium, tabla, and orchestra. Based on the music of the raga of the same name, "Puria Dunasri" also has an impressionistic aspect. 9 1/2" takes its title from the complex rhythmic structure of the piece and is performed by the soloist alone. Bhimpalasi," based on another raga. The piece is composed in three parts. The first and third parts were orchestrated by Jan Matthijn Smoldahl (b.1978) and Jon Øyvind Ness (b.1968), both active on the Norwegian music scene.Czech pianist Wojciech Proháska (b.1981) and tabla player Sanskuti Shrestha (b.1990), who was born in Nepal and lives and works in Oslo. The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, a leading advocate of new music, is conducted by Finland's Hannu Koivula (b.1960). This is not a fusion or crossover, but a "second generation" work in which Indian musical forms and Western orchestration coexist "effortlessly". Tokyo M-Plus
