Norwegian composer Knut Voge (b. 1961) studied piano and composition at the Grieg Academy in Bergen and is active primarily in the fields of improvisational and contemporary music. The album *Floating in the Air*, featuring musicians from Bergen—including the Varen Trio, the album *Floating in the Air*, featuring musicians from Bergen—including the Valen Trio, which recorded the piano trios by Egge and Voslev (LWC1037)—presents three chamber music works composed by Voge that express “the primary realms of human experience: body, mind, and thought.” *Boomerang*, which unfolds “the excitement of physical activity and the moments of rest in between,” is regarded as a prelude to a possible future. *Commotion* was composed as part of a project in which pianist Einar Rottingen and Vogue jointly explored “the meeting point of context and style.” *Floating in the Air*, a work that embodies a playful exploration of the possibilities of the piano trio and contains various elements—such as a hidden jigsaw puzzle—was premiered at the “Borealis Festival” in Bergen in March 2018.
