Vasily Petrenko has served as Chief Conductor of two prestigious orchestras in Norway, the prestigious Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2019, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in England, and from 2021 he will succeed Charles Dutoit as the Royal Philharmonic He was named "Artist of the Year" at the 2017 Gramophone Awards. This is the eighth volume of a collaborative project between Petrenko, the Oslo Philharmonic, and the high-quality Norwegian label LAWO. Following the three-volume collection of Richard Strauss' orchestral works, now also available is a collection of orchestral works by Nikolai Rimsky=Korsakov.The solo violinist who plays an important role in all three pieces is the Norwegian virtuoso Elyse Boatenges, who served as concertmaster of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the WDR Symphony Orchestra in Cologne, and has been concertmaster of her native Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra since 2006.
