Vasily Petrenko serves as chief conductor of two prestigious orchestras: the renowned Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic; He has also been making headlines as a leading young maestro, having been appointed Music Director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2021 to succeed Charles Dutoit. This is the seventh collaboration project between this young maestro of the 21st century—whose global reputation continues to grow, as evidenced by his selection as “Artist of the Year” at the 2017 Gramophone Awards—and the Oslo Philharmonic, in partnership with the Norwegian label “LAWO.” This collection of orchestral works by Richard Strauss showcases how Petrenko and the Oslo Philharmonic have eloquently and vividly interpreted these dramatic symphonic poems, all while maintaining a refined and cohesive sound.
