The University of Oslo Women’s Choir, Kvindelige Studenters Sangforening (KSS) (Academy Women’s Choir, University of Oslo Women’s Choral Society), was founded in 1895 and is said to be the world’s oldest student women’s choir. Following *In the Poor Land, the Silence of Christmas* (LWC1009), *Brahms Collection* (LWC1054), and *Let the Rain Fall* (LWC1134), this is the fourth album in the LAWO Classics series: *Like a Golden Sun Rising*. The album features works by Norwegian composers such as Alfredo Paulsen, Spalle Olsen, Knut, Islandsmön, and Schelruf, as well as traditional songs from Norway, Sweden, and France arranged by Norwegian musicians. The album includes “When Marie Kaltenborn Died, in the Garden” by Trine Franksdatter and a traditional hymn from Gublandsdal, based on a poem by the medieval monk Thomas Kingo and arranged by Henrik Ødegaard. *Like the Golden Sun That Rises* and the traditional song from Valdal, *Behold, the Land Grows Clear*, were commissioned by the University of Oslo Women’s Choir. Conducted by Marit Tonder Bosberg-Weide (1981–). Recorded during a session at Lis Church in Oslo in 2016, following the choir’s return from a successful tour of the United States. Tokyo M-Plus
