Description:
Oyvind Meran is one of Norway's youngest generation of composers. He studied piano with Izzy Hlinka at the Barat-Douet School of Music in Oslo and composition with Olav Anton Tommesen, Iva Frohnbær, and Henrik Herstenius at the Norwegian National Academy of Music, where he also attended master classes with Fernihoud and others. His compositions focus on music for chamber music and ensembles, and his 2013 opera Adundas - Solaris Korriger (t ad undas - Solaris edit) was premiered at the Norwegian National Opera. The album "SF Lieder" is a collection of works he wrote while a student at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Ad undas - Science Fiction Songs from the North Sea", whose name is derived from the Latin "ad undas" meaning "to the waves", which Norwegians often use when everything is going to hell because of their own mistakes, is based on a poem by Oyvind Limbereried, "Solaris korrigen (to the waves)". The work consists of ten songs based on words from Solaris korrigen (t Solaris ed.), a poem by Oyvind Limbereried.It is the result of a collaboration between Steine Janvin Motran, an "improvisational singer" who works in experimental music, and Sanae Yoshida, a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist who studied with Izzy Hlinka and Hakon Austbaugh.
