This is the fourth collection in a series of performances by Bergen musicians of chamber music by Bergen composer Voslef. As in the previous albums, the four-piece program featured "classical" ensemble pieces with unique instrumentation. The "Sextet," a clear Stravinsky influence that shows Vosleff as a young "pop pianist"; the "Nordic Counterpoint," a small piece featuring six beer bottles (branded "Hansa," of course) with two violins; and the "Nordic Piano," a piece that "is the most unsettling in my catalog," says Vosleff. The "Beethoven Trio," which is "one of the most unsettling works in my catalog," and the "Piano Quintet," which explores the possibilities of four string instruments and piano to the utmost limit in order to create an intense and tense expression. Violinist Riccardo Odriosola and pianist Einar Rottingen, who conceived the idea of "recording 38 of Vosleff's chamber works on nine albums," and other musicians who teach at the Grieg Academy, as well as members of the Bergen Philharmonic, will perform.
