Satomi Magae from Japan and Euan Alexander Millar-McMeeken from Scotland. Two sensibilities nurtured in distant lands have come together to create a masterpiece—a quiet, intimate musical work that blends English and Japanese with the sounds of traditional folk music! YOAL is a project by Scottish musician Euan Alexander Millar-McMeeken and Japan’s Satomi Magae. Their exchange via email began when Euan asked Magae to remix a track for his album *Interpretations*, released under his solo project Glacis. Their exchange, which evolved from musical dialogue into observations of daily life and a curiosity about each other’s cultural environments, eventually led to the creation of this collaborative album. By unconsciously or consciously incorporating traditional folk techniques from their respective homelands, this collaboration became a space where the sensibilities of English and Japanese intersect. The folk traditions of both cultures resonate in the melodies, tempos, and tones. "Gloaming" was shaped by this intersection of sounds, as well as by dialogue and cultural exchange. As physical distance became a bridge rather than a barrier, influences from English and Japanese coexisted and fused into a modest musical work that conveys a sense of familiarity and emotional connection. 『Gloaming』 is one of three albums in the Moss & Melee series released by LostTribeSound. Other new releases in this series include Seabuckthorn, Daniel Jolan ('tGeruis), Civic Hall (Craig Tattersall & Euan Alexander Millar-McMeeken), Corrado Maria DeSantis, Arrowounds, Rafa Ramos Sania, and others. The limited-edition CD release (200 copies) is housed in a thick, high-quality double-sided W-jacket and includes a lyric booklet in both Japanese and English.
