KAINOS, a Christian rock/melodic/symphonic rock band from the Norwegian city of Molde, reportedly formed under the influence of JERUSALEM, one of Sweden’s leading Christian rock bands; Their second album, released in 1980 after signing with Norway’s CBS, is set to be released on CD for the first time in 2026 by Norway’s Norske Albumklassikere! Following their debut album—which featured catchy pop-rock and ballads where simple arrangements paradoxically added depth—their sound has become even richer and more melodious. It features emotionally charged guitar work reminiscent of their fellow Norwegians KERRSPINK, a wailing saxophone, and a crystalline flute—all evoking a Nordic atmosphere—as heard in the opening track “Alpha” and “GratMaria,” which features beautiful female harmonies that seem to soar to the heavens. this album is a genuine work of melodic/symphonic rock that blends the 1970s lyrical progressive rock epitomized by CAMEL and RENAISSANCE with the refined sensibilities of 1980s fusion and contemporary jazz. Furthermore, the recording took place at CrossStudio, owned by Alf Emil Eik—known for releasing the hidden gem of Nordic melodic rock, *JOY & BREATH OF ETERNITY*—and the album’s taut, cool atmosphere shares a connection with that work. This is a must-have masterpiece for fans of lyrical rock! The mastering was handled by engineer Giert Claussen, who works on all of this label’s releases, using newly remastered audio sourced from the original master tapes and digital files.
