Description:

Beautiful Sound Violinists Record 2L's Hemsing Beethoven's "Kreutzer"! Norwegian violinist Ragnhild Hemsing (1988-) and pianist Tor Espen Aspaas (1971-) have been recital partners since her first solo album "YR" (Simax PSC1315). They began working together as recital partners. She released Northern Timbre (2L138SABD) in 2017, a recording of music by Grieg, Sibelius, and Carl Nilsen, which is different from her sister Elbjorg's recordings on the BIS label. Ragnhild's sensibility and expressive music, which is different from that of her sister Elbjorg, who continues to record for the BIS label, has attracted attention and won her fans. The new album by the duo of Ragnhild and Thor Espen features a program of two sonatas by Beethoven, a composer dear to both of them, who received the "Beethoven Ring" at the "Beethoven Festival" in Bonn in 2013.The year 1802, the title of the album, is said to be "the year of crisis, when Beethoven the Artist left Beethoven the Man in the hands of fate. Plagued by progressive hearing loss and a sense of alienation from Viennese society and public life, Beethoven composed his "last will and testament" in "letters and music" in Heiligenstadt, where he stayed during the summer and fall. He composed a series of masterpieces, including the "Three Violin Sonatas" Op.30, including the G major piece, the "Three Piano Sonatas" Op.31, including the "Tempest Sonata," the "Eroica Variations" Op.35, and the Second Symphony, Op.36, and in 1803, together with his G major 8th Symphony, the "Heroic Sonata" Op.37, which is performed on this album, he composed a new work, "The Heroic Sonata," in the key of G major, Op.38. The following year, in 1803, Beethoven composed the A major sonata called the "Kreutzer Sonata," which represents his "heroic" style. 2019, session recording at the Sofienberg Church in Oslo.
