A beautiful, intelligently composed album with the album concept of "death" with Marianne Beate Schelan, a leading contemporary Scandinavian oratorio and lieder singer and Norwegian mezzo-soprano who was also featured on the new recording of Martin's "Golgotha" (HMC 902056), The album features the Ukrainian-born pianist Sergei Osadchuk. Death is as natural as love. The concept of the album is death, which no one can escape. Come away, come away, death/And in sad cypress let me be laid... (Come away, come away, death/And in sad cypress let me be laid... ......)" (Come Away, Death from William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, translated by Takeshi Odajima).Korngold, Sibelius (according to the Swedish translation), and Finzi, who composed music with this clown song as the text. Norway's Wolfgang Plagge sought out the text in a 1916 book of poems by the Swedish-Finnish poet Edith Södergrund, considered one of the first modernists of Swedish-language literature. Maya Sølvej Sjölstrup Ratje, a composer, singer, keyboardist, and violinist active on the Norwegian music scene, wrote "A Rest" as a command and a plea from the earth to mankind.
