Lightning, a 2025 piano trio led by pianist Sondre Moshagen. Building on pianist Sondre Moshagen's compositions, this young trio delivers a deeply instinctive and focused performance full of dazzling energy and originality. Their music draws inspiration from classical impressionism, pop, and expressive jazz, and they move freely between minimalist collective playing that highlights texture and tone, and explosive solo sections. The Sondre Moshagen Lightning Trio, featuring bassist Keltu Ael and drummer Steiner Heide Boe, met at a jazz program in Trondheim in the fall of 2022. After their participation in last year's Jazzintro launch program, the trio was awarded the "Arets unge jazzmusikere 2024" (Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2024). In the jury's letter of commendation, the trio was praised for their "clear and gripping group chemistry" and "strong individual voices that stand out for their subtlety and maturity."Their work has been described as "powerful rhythms at the highest level, opening up vast musical spaces. Their melodies and harmonies give them a unique character and create moments of breathtaking beauty.
