Steve Whiteman, a legendary frontman in the American hard rock scene and member of KIX—which sadly disbanded in 2023—has had his first solo album, *You're Welcome*, originally self-released in 2021, reissued by HEAVENANDHELLRECORDS. Having led KIX for over 35 years, he produced this album during the hiatus caused by the pandemic, with contributions from longtime collaborators Brad Divens and Jimmy Chalfant. Turning the tour hiatus to his advantage, he crafted these 12 tracks with a free-spirited approach, resulting in a sound that exudes a unique solo personality distinct from KIX. The album is packed with bold, accessible hard rock tracks, including “Bad Blood” with its raw harmonica, the bluesy “Lightning Bolt,” and the catchy “Do Me Like You Done Me Before.” On the other hand, “KidDynamite”—dedicated to KIX guitarist Ronnie Yonkins, who was undergoing rehabilitation at the time—reveals a more melancholic side. Including the sultry and humorous “Tug of Luv,” this album is a distillation of Steve Whiteman’s multifaceted charm. The album title is taken from a familiar call-and-response during KIX live shows, where every time he says “Thank you” to the audience, they reply “You’re welcome.” Furthermore, the cover features the stick-figure illustrations he has been drawing for years in place of his signature, making it packed with playful touches that fans will love.
