Every morning, the light still shines. That's the sentiment behind trans woman and singer/songwriter jasmine.4.t.'s debut album, You Are The Morning. Jasmine began playing guitar when her late uncle entrusted her with his instrument. My uncle was very close to our family, he picked us up from school every day. I am autistic. For a long time, guitar was my special interest," she says. Soon, she began playing the songs of her guitar book heroes, but writing and playing have always gone hand in hand. Her album, the first to be signed to Saddest Factory Records in the U.K., was produced by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus. Jasmine and her band traveled to LA to record the album at Sound City Studios.Jasmine considers her songs fluid and ever-changing, and the recording carries that free and spontaneous spirit. The songwriting for You Are The Morning drew from darker events to tell its story. The recording, on the other hand, surrounded by friends, was filled with light. Through performance, activity, and artistry, jasmine.4.t heralds a new dawn.
