Orbiting Human Circus, a quartet evolving the imagination of Julian Koster (Neutral Milk Hotel, The Music Tapes, Elephant 6). Releasing their debut album, Quartet Plus Two, on Merge, Orbiting Human Circus will release their album, Quartet Plus Two, in November 2023. The group continues to evolve the imagination of Julian Koster (Neutral Milk Hotel, The Music Tapes, Elephant 6) and this will be their debut album. The quartet consists of Koster, standup bass player Gauvain Gamon, drummer Kolja Gjoni, and pianist Benji Miller. Koster stumbled upon Gamon and Gjoni playing Gershwin and Mingus while walking in New York City's Central Park, and when Miller joined them, a musical partnership was born.The album also features Koster's longtime collaborators Robbie Cucchairo (horns) and Thomas Hughes (orchestral arranging / chimes) of The Music Tapes. The music they make together is both familiar and unrecognizable. There is something as comforting as the smell of autumn leaves and snow, while exploring new musical paths.
