Description:

Grammy artist Danilo Perez's latest magnificent work, a true human music from the heart of a leading pianist and UNESCO Ambassador for Music and Peace! Danilo Perez is a member of the miraculous "Wayne Shorter Quartet" with Brian Braid and John Patitucci. Danilo Perez (born in 1965 in Panama), who continues his unprecedented activities as a pianist, composer, producer, educator, and activist, has completed a new album featuring his new ensemble "The Global Messengers"! The title "Crisalida" means "chrysalis" or "transitional period. I envision Crisalida as a space that embraces all of humanity, including immigration, climate change, the environment, and mutual access to various art forms. The key is to let individual light and humanity shine through, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation." By working together to build "Crisalida," Danilo explains, "the world will develop a prismatic iridescence that will better the environment and humanity. The members assembled and the music being played are truly Danilo's unique global perspective. The first four pieces are entitled "LaMuralla (Glass Wall) Suite" and the second four pieces are entitled "Fronteras (Boundaries) Suite," and are distinguished by their chamber music-like sound. The group is led by the great percussionist Romain Diaz (Cuba), with Faris Ishak (Palestine) playing the "ney" flute, singer Eirini Tornesaki (Greece), violinist and singer Laith Siddiq (Iraq), and saxophonist Patricia Lopez, who is known for her saxophone playing, but also performs on this album. The album features a number of notable members, including Patricia Zarate Perez (Chile), who is known as a saxophonist but performs rap music on this album. They all have great human qualities. I love their spirit of adventure and their willingness to connect to new things," Danilo says with admiration. I want to promote music that builds bridges between humans. I want to strive to leave something positive behind that will allow young artists to continue their journey."Danilo, who moved to the U.S. on a Fulbright scholarship and rose to prominence in the late 1980s with the multinational United Nations Orchestra led by Dizzy Gillespie, has been busy as a UNESCO Artist for Peace (Ambassador of Music for Peace) since 2013. Enjoy the human music that only he can deliver!
