Legendary GRANDE BALLROOM live recorded in 1969 to be reissued on CD! DICK WAGNER, the leader of THE BOSSMEN, a local hero band from Alpena, Michigan, who played a harmony beat garage sound with MARK FARNER who later formed GRAND FUNK RAILROAD, auditioned for the lead vocalist of BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS in New York City after the band broke up. After the band broke up, DICK WAGNER auditioned for the lead vocalist position in BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS in NY and lost out to DAVID CLAYTON THOMAS, so he came back to Michigan and formed the band. The result is FROST, a four-piece heavy psychedelic hard rock band that pioneered the 60s Detroit scene with MC5, FRIJID PINK, STOOGES, AMBOY DUKES, and others. This live recording captures the definitive performance at Detroit's Hall of Fame GRANDE BALLROOM in 1969.The anthem "ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC" from the new 2ND album, the sweet and catchy pop tune "SWEET LADY LOVE", the heart felt slow down blues "DONNY'S BLUES" with a mouth harp solo, and the preceding high energy track "BLACK AS NIGHT" and "1500 MILES (THROUGH THE EYE OF A BEATLE)" from the next album in 1970, "THROUGH THE EYES OF LOVE", "1500 MILES (THROUGH THE EYE OF A BEATLE)", a medley of early local hits, "TAKE MY HAND / MYSTERY MAN", a solid blues-rock "BLACK AS NIGHT", a high-energy track from The solid blues-rock "BLACK TRAIN," a 16-minute-long "WE GOTTA GET OUT OF THIS PLACE" cover of ANIMALS' Blowin' Out, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc. DICK WAGNER, the main singer/guitarist, moved back to New York after FROST was dismantled and joined the short-lived band URSA MAJOR, which later featured superstar BILLY JOEL on keyboards, and also joined Lou Reed's ROCK & ROLL ANIMAL BAND. He also worked for many years as one arm of ALICE COOPER, not only playing lead guitar, but also composing, arranging, and producing. He has made a great contribution to the history of rock 'n' roll as a rock 'n' roll animal.
