Shame, a five-piece South London band leading the UK post-punk scene. Two years after their last album, which was a top 10 hit in the UK, they have released their third album, "Food for Worms". Produced by Flood (U2, PJ Harvey, Falls, etc.). SHAME will release its third album, Food for Worms, on February 24, 2023, on Dead Oceans. With "Food for Worms," SHAME enters a new surreal landscape, as reflected in the cover art designed by acclaimed artist Marcel Dzama. Here, the farcical, fantastical daily life we live and the society in which everything is possible/impossible suggest what remains untold beneath the surface. This means that, for the first time, a band has attempted to capture the world around them rather than delve into their inner lives. After the pandemic, remembering the first thing they loved about being in a band, they set to work on the album. Food for Worms was brought to life faster than anything they had made before. The band recorded it while playing festivals all over Europe, energized by the strength of the reactions the new songs received.The live energy of SHAME is like witnessing a pubic area where they are in their element, and like lightning in a bottle, it is perfectly captured on this record. The band enlisted renowned producer Flood (Nick Cave, U2, PJHarvey, Foals) to execute their vision. Recording each track live represents a kind of surrender. Here, the rough edges give the album texture, and mistakes are more interesting than perfection. In a way, the album is the very title (Widow Prey), suggesting that the band embraces vulnerability and, in doing so, taps into a new source of courage.
