Purity Ring", a male/female duo based in Halifax/Montreal, Canada, has released their world debut album on the long-established British label 4AD! This July, they will be opening for the Dirty Projectors on their North American tour. The duo consists of 21-year-old Colin Roddick and 24-year-old Megan James. Both grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, and spent their early years touring as the drummer and vocalist for Gobble Gobble (now Bone Gold). In the middle of a long tour, Colin, who loves R&B and hip-hop, started writing songs and asked Megan to sing on them, which were released on the Internet in January 2011 and immediately received a storm of praise from around the world. This was the catalyst for the full-fledged launch of this project.The album is a blend of 90's R&B, dream pop, and modern hip-hop, and you can't help but be intoxicated by Megan's ecstatic and clear voice and the sound of mainstream and indie music that you never would have thought possible! This is a masterpiece that takes dream pop to the next level!
