Before becoming a super soloist with the Orchestre National de l'Opera de Paris, Marc Goujon has been active at the forefront of French music, having served as principal of the Orchestre Garde Republique de Paris (brass band), Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, Orchestre Picardie, and Orchestre de chambre de Paris. Marc Gougeon, a favorite of Silky's trumpet, has chosen for his first solo recording a series of trumpet concertos for the classical school from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. To the three masterpieces by Haydn, Hummel, and Neruda, the bible for trumpet players, Marc Gougeon adds the world premiere recording of the C major concerto by the contemporary French composer Christian Guagnet (1941-).It is a concerto written in pure Mozart style, not in esoteric modern music, and is an excellent work in three movements performed by solo trumpet, string orchestra, two oboes, and two horns.
