French composer Laurent Lefrançois, who studied at the Ecole Normale de Musique under Stéphane Delplas and Guillaume Conneson, received the Audience Prize at the 2006 Boulogne Young Composers Competition and the Claude Allieu Prize from SACEM in 2016. He is an up-and-coming composer who has been acclaimed by the French classical music magazine Diapason for his works for many renowned artists, including "Padouk Fantastiques for Marimba and Clarinet" (commissioned work for Ria Ida and Paul Meyer). This album features mainly concertos for woodwinds (clarinet and flute).The ensemble will be led by Paul Meyer (Cl), who is considered one of the world's top virtuosos for his perfect technique, outstanding musicianship, and rich tone, and who is also the principal conductor of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra (2010-2012) here in Japan, Magali Monnier (Fl), and Pierre Jénisson (Cl), the splendid soloists of France, the kingdom of wind instruments, will portray the exciting and poetic world of Laurent Lefrancois.
