Description:
A long-held dream since the founding of the Kaas Trio in Finland, a collection of chamber works by composer Halli Vesman, who has forged his own path in contemporary Finland, the KAAAS Trio (Kaas Trio) is an ensemble founded in 2011. Annemarie Astrom, artistic director of Vögeleius Chamber Strings, on violin; Ulla Lampela, member of the Ostrobothnia Chamber Orchestra, on cello; and "More Another Collection of Finnish Violin Works" ( The name of the group comes from the Finnish word for "chaos," which is a play on the letters of the three members' last names. Vessman's chamber music was one of the projects they had been contemplating since their inception. Harri Wessman (1949-) is one of the composers who has been making his own way in contemporary Finland. He has written works that "turn their backs on modernist diction ...... and are anchored in romantic sentiment and inner lyricism" (Kimmo Korhonen). From his more than 60 chamber works, this album features five pieces with piano. The "Piano Quartet" was commissioned by the Kujmo Chamber Music Festival and Finnish Picture Magazine. It is in four movements: "Appassionato," "Nostalgico," "Lassenato (of resignation)," and "Burlesco. Hanna Pakkala, solo viola player of the Ostrobothnia Chamber Orchestra, plays the viola. The "Prelude and Sicilienne" was written for young players. The "Piano Trio No. 2" consists of five movements: "Exordium," "Narratio cum digressione," "Propositio," "Argumentatio," and "Peroratio," and was given the subtitle "Rhetoric. It was subtitled "Rhetoric. The two "Piano Trios," "No. 1," which has some jazz harmonies, and "No. 3," which was commissioned for the Erkki Melartin Chamber Music Competition, are both one-movement works. Sinikka Hurskainen's "Kevatta ilmassa (Signs of Spring)" was used as the cover art for the jacket. King International
