This is a collection of recorder works by Jørgensen (1924–), one of Denmark’s contemporary composers. Although his name is virtually unknown outside Denmark, even a brief listen to this album will reveal the brilliance of his talent. This album contains his complete works for recorder. The reason Petri chose to feature his works is that Elizabeth Serin—her student, a close friend for 30 years, and a frequent collaborator—is actually Jørgensen’s daughter. Through her, Petri discovered Jørgensen’s music and was captivated by its unique world. His music—composed by a self-taught composer—is characterized by organic interplay of sounds and a certain sensual beauty.
