Born the son of the great Wagner, Siegfried Wagner initially aspired to become an architect but eventually discovered his calling as a musician, going on to make a name for himself as a composer and conductor. Today, however, his works are rarely heard. While some of his operas are occasionally staged, the art songs included here had been all but forgotten. Yet these 15 songs vividly reflect the fantastical landscapes and the inhabitants of fairy-tale realms that he loved so dearly.
