Jeffrey Simon, who has been active in the UK and recorded various arrangements and rare works, choreographed the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in his native Australia in 1989 and recorded this disc of rare orchestral works by Australian composer Percy Grainger. The recording features "Warriors," conceived as ballet music, and other works based on folk themes, one of Grainger's hallmarks. The latter four pieces were world premiere recordings at the time.
