Hugo Ticciati and the Oh Modern Chamber Orchestra, who have previously released crossover programs that transcend genre boundaries—including *White Light: The Space Between* (SIGCD532) and *From the Ground Up: The Chaconne* (SIGCD574)—on Signum Classics, have announced their first new release in some time. Conceived and realized in 2021—a year marking the 500th anniversary of Josquin des Prez’s birth, the 50th anniversary of Stravinsky’s death, and the 30th anniversary of Miles Davis’s death—this project fuses the works of Josquin des Prez, Stravinsky, and Miles Davis. Through arrangements that pay close attention to rhythm, texture, and improvisation, it connects the music of these three artists—who differ in every respect, from era to genre to style—and creates a direct dialogue between them. Keep an eye on the soloists, led by trombone legend Nils Landgren, as well as the flexible and creative approach of “Festival O/MODERNT.” Violinist Hugo Ticciati, the brother of conductor Robin Ticciati, is originally from the UK. He is currently based in Sweden, where he directs the country’s music festival, “Festival O/MODERNT.” Incorporating literary, philosophical, artistic, and spiritual inspirations into his musical activities, he creates a variety of crossover programs with the festival’s orchestra, the O/MODERNT Chamber Orchestra.
