The complete works of Duparc's songs are now available from Malcolm Martineau (Malcolm Martineau), a world-renowned British accompaniment pianist who recorded the complete songs of Poulenc and Fauré to great acclaim. Duparc, a pupil of Franck, was a composer of the late French Romantic period and left many outstanding works, especially in the field of songs. However, at the age of 37, he suddenly became unable to compose due to a neurological disorder, and spent the rest of his life revising his own works. The album features Sarah Connolly, a veteran of Lorin Maazel's Mahler and other works; Nikki Spence, winner of the Gramophone Award & BBC Music Magazine Award and named "Young Singer of the Year" at the 2015 International Opera Awards; BBC Next Generation Artist William Thomas, the winner of the 2019 Veronica Dunn International Vocal Competition, and young baritone Hugh Montague Rendall, who has already performed on major stages such as the Salzburg Festival, will be joining this stellar lineup of singers, who have supported some of the world's greatest singers in the past.
