Brahms (1833-1897)
Description:
Winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition 2015! Anna Zybuleva plays Brahms! Anna Zybuleva, the talented winner of the Leeds International Competition 2015! The highly anticipated concerto recording is the magnificent Brahms No. 2! She won the 4th prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in 2012, the first prize at the Emile Ghirellis Memorial International Piano Competition in Odessa in 2013, the 4th prize at the Takamatsu International Piano Competition in 2014, and finally won the world's most prestigious piano competition in 2015. Anna Tsibreva was born and raised in Russia (a small town in the Republic of Karachay-Cherkess on the border of Georgia) in 1990 and graduated from the Shostakovich School of Music in Bolgodonsk. After graduating from the Shostakovich Conservatory, she studied at the Moscow Conservatory and the Basel Conservatory, and after winning the Leeds Competition in 2015, she gained international attention and released her debut solo album "Fantasien" (CHRCD 131) on Champs Hill Records. This long-awaited second album and first concerto recording features Brahms' mature small works, centering on the Piano Concerto No. 2, a masterpiece from Brahms' mature period and one of the most difficult piano concertos of all time. The Piano Concerto No. 2, which Brahms won in the finals of the Leeds International Piano Competition with Mark Elder and the Halle Orchestra, is a work of brilliant technique and expressive power! The program will be conducted by Ruth Reinhardt, a young German conductor who has served as a Dudamel Fellow of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and assistant conductor of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
