La Serenissima

Description:

Chandler & La Serenissima! A rare collection of unrecorded recordings on CD! La Serenissima is a period ensemble founded in 1994 by Adrian Chandler, one of Britain's foremost Baroque violinists. La Serenissima has won two Gramophone Awards for their world premiere recordings of unknown and rediscovered works of the Italian Baroque, mainly by Vivaldi the Red-Haired Priest and other composers of the same generation. This is the second release from La Serenissima's Signum Classics, a collection of recordings made by La Serenissima but for various reasons have never been recorded on CD. Vivaldi's RV.286.This is a rare opportunity to hear Albinoni's Sinfonia, which did not make it into the "Italian Job" album (AV 2371) [an adaptation of the Sinfonia to "Il Nome Glorioso" from "Venice by Night" (AV 2257)], and a work by the young Nicola Matteis the Younger [Nicola Matteis the Younger, son of Nicola Matteis (fl.c.1670-after 1713), who was instrumental in the development of Italian music in London]. Younger, son of Nicola Matteis (fl.c.1670-after 1713), who was responsible for the development of Italian music in London. This concerto was recorded as another version of Vivaldi's RV.365 on "The French Connection II" (AV 2218), and was previously available only as a download. Breschanello's Violin Concerto, which was additionally recorded for "Vivaldi x 2" (AV 2392). And the Butoh Suite by the young Nicola Matteis, which required similar orchestration, and Vivaldi's RV.171, dedicated to the Holy Roman Emperor Carl VI, were recorded during the recording of the previous album, "Godfather" (SIGCD 602), and combined with the previous material to complete a single album.Jewels of the Italian Baroque that were too good to be buried will finally see the light of day.
