On Solitude, Hiroshi Ebina's third album for Singapore's KITCHEN. LABEL, captures the faint murmur of disconnection, the fatiguing rhythms of digital overload, and the grace of rediscovered silence.Against a backdrop of drifting rhythms and foggy synthesizers, Ebina creates a new emotional landscape between the introspection of ambient, the clarity of dream techno, and the musical territory he calls "post-digital minimalism. This work was conceived as a quiet rebellion against our hyperconnected society. It presents a musical space to listen to one's own inner voice in a world where information is constantly flowing. The rhythm of the work is shaped by the poetic sentiment and lightness that resides in the routines of daily life. Musically, this work transcends its predecessors and ventures into a realm of richer textures and movement. The gentle progression of post-classical, the warmth of dream pop, and the pale light of soft techno blend together to provide a consistent flow and texture throughout the album. The opening track "The Village in the Sky," featuring London-based Japanese artist Hinako Omori, symbolically presents the world of the album with its quiet breath and transparent presence. The following tracks also weave introspective time with concise motifs that explore themes such as shimmering, memory, and awakening.Toward the end of the album, the words recede into the background and the sounds themselves shape time and space. The closing track, "A Silent Room," features marucoporoporo, a member of Japan's new generation ambient scene. His gentle vocals give the silence a human temperature and bring the work to a close with deep reverberations. Mastering was done by Joseph Branciforte (Greyfade Studio) in New York, and the artwork is by painter Chizuru Masumura.
