Among Mozart’s works, piano trios are featured on concert programs far less frequently than other genres. However, their music is superb, and many listeners are sure to discover a fresh, unexpected quality when they hear them. The Suzart Trio—a promising ensemble formed in 2022 by three musicians from different countries: violinist Sarah Baiens (Belgium), cellist Mikko Pablo (Philippines), pianist Markiyan Popil (Ukraine)—three musicians from different countries—formed the up-and-coming ensemble, the Suzart Trio, in 2022 and have taken on the challenge of recording the complete works; this is the first release in that series. This album traces the evolution of Mozart’s piano trio compositions over a 12-year period. It covers three distinct creative phases, ranging from the early works—which still bear strong traces of the “sonata with accompaniment” style—to the chamber music style rich in the subtleties of musical dialogue.
