This Mozart Requiem, arranged entirely for string quartet, including the vocal parts, is a 'skeleton' version of the Requiem. This is a very popular performance of Mozart's masterpiece that allows the listener to appreciate it from a different angle. The Quicken Quartet's passionate and dense ensemble lets us hear the true essence of the work to the fullest. Lichtenthal was born in 1780 in Pressburg (now Bratislava). He lived in Milan from 1810 until his death in 1853, where he left behind some 50 works, including seven ballets written for La Scala. Mozart's works were enthusiastically received in Milan, and Lichtenthal was one of the specialists who arranged and published his string quartets and other works. He also translated "Abduction from the Hind Palace" into Italian and created a rehearsed piano part for "Idomeneo.Such is the case with Lichtenthal's arrangement of Mozart's Requiem for string quartet. According to Kuijken, the original of this Lichtenthal arrangement is the Jussmeyer edition. Lichtenthal probably acquired this version through Mozart's eldest son, Carl Thomas Mozart. I have to pay my most sincere respects to Jussmeyer," Lichtenthal said. Thanks to him, Mozart's Requiem has been preserved in its entirety, and it moves us all.
