Also includes a piano trio version of Symphony No. 2! This is the second volume of the Van Beuret Trio's project to record Beethoven's complete piano trios. Minnaar, who leads this trio, is a Dutch pianist born in 1984, and has won many international competitions, including the third prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition, and has also released the complete Beethoven piano concerto cycle (CC-72763) on the same label. The piano trio version of Symphony No. 2 is an interesting work that should be heard at least once. It is said that Beethoven himself made modifications to the arrangement by his pupil Ries. At that time, ordinary families did not have many opportunities to hear symphonies performed, so there was a high demand for such arrangements. The simple and light sound of the piece conveys another of its charms. The "Allegretto" is believed to have been written in the early 1790s, close in date to the Op. 1 Trio (published in 1795).
