But for Swapmeet, it was a “sign of a new beginning” that led them to unseen landscapes and untapped emotions. The four members met in high school, creating countless songs while jamming in a basement, and then burst onto the scene, driven by that raw impulse. In 2024, they released their debut EP, *Oxalis*, winning Best Release and Best Song (“Ceiling Fan”) at the South Australian Music Awards. Their talent has already been highly acclaimed, including being named Best Emerging Artist at SXSW Sydney 2025. Their debut album, *Mount Zero*, captures the essence of 90s and 2000s slowcore and alternative rock while remaining refreshingly vibrant—a work that feels like a snapshot of the present moment. First love, heartbreak, restlessness, anxiety—the fluctuations and pains of youth resonate vividly through delicate guitars and dynamic sounds. The songs, where stillness and intensity collide, stir the listener’s emotions deeply, much like the ever-changing scenery during a long drive. Recorded while holed up in a house by the sea, this album was crafted as the four members freely switched roles, layering and stripping away sounds.
