Amid the disco boom that swept the world in the late 1970s, CHIC captivated disco fans with their innovative and meticulously crafted sound. With Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards as core members, they released U.S. No. 1 hits such as “LeFreak” and “Good Times,” leading the disco movement. Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards also made their mark as producers, working with artists such as Madonna, David Bowie, and Diana Ross to create massive hits. Drummer Tony Thompson went on to perform with groups like The Power Station. As a disco legend and super-producer, Nile Rodgers commands immense respect across generations and genres. Beginning with his collaboration on Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” in 2013, and last year, he released *It’s About Time*, his first new studio album in about 25 years under the name Nile Rodgers & Chic. Now, the “Signature Remasters” of his first three original albums—supervised by Nile himself—will be released on vinyl LP on June 21, 2019. These tracks were originally included in the box set *THE CHIC ORGANIZATION 1977–1979 [5CD]*, released last year to commemorate the 40th anniversary of “Le Freak.” They are now being reissued as vinyl LPs of the original albums. All three of these early albums have been newly remastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios from the original stereo master tapes held by Atlantic Records. Nile Rodgers, serving as executive producer, oversaw the remastering process with the permission of the Bernard Edwards Estate. Each album is also being released on high-quality 180-gram vinyl using half-speed mastering. Nile Rodgers had this to say about the remastered recordings: “Thanks to the wonderful music Bernard and I created, I’ve been able to live the life I’ve always wanted. Our music has been recognized as one of the greatest of all time, both commercially and artistically, and that is exactly what we had hoped for back when we were two young musicians with no limits and a natural partnership. To have produced the best-selling single on Atlantic Records—one of the greatest record labels in history—is truly a dream come true! What was important to me was to make this release the best-sounding one yet, as a tribute to Bernard. I can confidently say that Miles Showell and the Abbey Road team achieved that. Even now, 40 years later, it all sounds incredibly fresh.”
