During this month, observed every February in the United States, RHINORECORDS is reissuing numerous classic Black music albums that have influenced music and culture on vinyl. Eight classic albums are being released this time. Each one has stood the test of time and continues to be enjoyed by listeners today. She first gained attention as the sole female member of the Junior Mafia, the crew led by the late Biggie. Her mesmerizing hip-hop, delivered from her petite 4-foot-7-inch (approx. 142 cm) frame, combined with her presence, looks, and buzz—all of which earned her the title of “Number One in the U.S.”—her name is Lil’ Kim. She made her group debut as a member of Junior Mafia in 1995, and her debut solo album, *HARDCORE*, released in the fall of 1996, became a massive hit on the U.S. hip-hop charts. With her eccentric outfits and flashy makeup, she has garnered significant attention not only in the music scene but also in the fashion world as a hip-hop icon. It’s safe to say that her style has been firmly carried on by female artists such as Cardi B and Nicki Minaj.
