The year 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miles Davis, a one-of-a-kind figure hailed as the “Emperor of Jazz.” Having exerted a profound influence not only on the history of jazz but on the evolution of music itself, he consistently incorporated new styles into his sound throughout his life, continuously creating works that transcended genres. Born in 1926, he continued to inspire and exert an overwhelming influence on the music scene with his extraordinary innovation and genius; he is truly one of the 20th century’s most representative musicians and an iconic figure who symbolizes culture itself. This year, as we mark the centennial of his birth, various releases spanning multiple labels are being issued to honor his legacy and celebrate his innovation and genius. Recently, details were announced regarding vinyl reissues of DOO-BOP and LIVE AT MONTREUX, originally released in 1992 after Miles’s passing; this time, a collection of works released by Warner Records (then Warner Bros. Records)—where he was signed from 1985 to 1991, a period that could be described as his final years—including studio albums, soundtracks, and greatest-hits compilations, will be reissued on vinyl and CD.
